In the spring of 2006, I had the great opportunity to join the staff of the new Lifetime comedy series Lovespring, International. It's a part-scripted, part-improvised sitcom set in an elite Beverly Hills dating service, that just happens to be located in Tarzana, CA. The show's delightfully quick-on-their-feet cast is made up of (from left to right) Jack Plotnick (Steve), Wendi McLendon-Covey (Lydia), Sam Pancake (Burke), Jane Lynch (Victoria), Jennifer Elise Cox (Tiffany) and Mystro Clark (Alex). My job title is Executive Consultant, which basically means I help the show's creators (Brad isaacs and Guy Shalem) come up with stories and situations for the characters to play. Though the dialogue is largely improvised, we craft detailed outlines that the actors work from. After years of trying to get my foot in the door in TV, Lovespring was my first experience working on a show that actually made it to the air. And it was a thrilling and fun thing to be a part of.
